Quick, March!

Cityscape Marches into Autumn

Our epic March issue of Cityscape sees Christchurch representing, with former local lad (and accountant) now opera superstar Teddy Tahu Rhodes rocking this month’s cover. The booming baritone is back in the city as one of the leads in New Zealand Opera’s production of Tosca; we caught up with the man himself on the joys of playing baddies and the fine art of dying on stage, as well as deconstructing the ‘opera that conquered the world’.

It’s just one of the many highlights (clear your calendars folks – this month has got it goin’ on!) you need on your March radar. Keeping you in the game, we chat with Alliance Francaise French Film Festival Patron/film geek Kate Rodger, check out stunning new fashion boutique Workshop, meet the woman who introduced Christchurch to the ‘Brozilian’ and made hair removal and brow work glam – Off & On’s Nicky Shore – and jam with boundary/genre-pushing piano duo Anderson & Roe.

We also squeeze in a visit to Thai-riffic Kum Pun Thai, indulge in an exquisite long lunch at Waipara Hills Café, find out what’s in store at the North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival, and, as usual, round up the best of the month’s gigs, events, films and music in the city. Go to it, Christchurch!
